Wakaragi no Michi (Nanatani River Cherry Blossom Lined Path) in Kameoka City, Kyoto Prefecture, is a promenade along the Nanatani River. In spring, it is famous for the spectacular view created by the rows of approximately 1,500 cherry trees stretching for about 1 km.
The cherry trees along the path are usually at their best from late March to early April, attracting many tourists.

What is Someiyoshino?
Someiyoshino cherry trees, which can be seen along the Way of Waragi, are a variety of cherry tree that is a symbol of spring in Japan. They are planted in parks and along streets throughout Japan to herald the arrival of spring. It has become a representative species of ornamental cherry trees in modern times, and the word “sakura” often refers to this variety.

How to access
To get to Waragi no Michi, take the Kameoka City Furusato Bus from Kameoka Station on the JR Sagano Line. Get off at the ” Nana-tanigawa ” stop of the Kameoka City Furusato Bus and walk for a few minutes from there.
By car, it takes about 10 minutes from the Chiyogawa IC of the Kyoto Jukan Expressway. Paid parking is available.

Illuminated at night
During the peak season, the trees are illuminated at night for a limited time only. Visitors can enjoy even more fantastic and beautiful nighttime cherry blossoms than during the daytime.
BBQ at Nanatani River Outdoor Activity Center
The Nanatani River Outdoor Activity Center is an activity facility and campground only a few minutes’ walk from the Wakaragi-no-Michi trail.
It is smaller in size and has a relaxing atmosphere with a grassy park and tree houses where you can feel nature. It is a popular spot for families with children, who can enjoy playing ball and games on the grass. During the cherry blossom season, visitors can enjoy barbecue while viewing cherry blossoms!
