The cherry blossoms at Umemiya-taisha Shrine are known for their variety. The double-flowered cherry trees planted around Kotama-ike Pond bloom as far as the eye can see, just like a tunnel of cherry blossoms. The best time to visit is from mid to late April, when the pale pink petals are reflected on the surface of the water, creating a fantastic scene.
There are also many old yamazakura trees within the precincts of the temple, and their voluminous blossoms are a sight to behold. In addition, visitors can enjoy rare varieties of cherry blossoms such as the Yangguihi and Fugen Zou. We recommend strolling through the pond garden and admiring the various types of cherry blossoms. The cherry blossoms along the water’s edge reflect on the surface of the water, creating a tasteful scene.
