With a height of 13 meters and a branch length of 10 meters, Fuji-zakura cherry trees are in full bloom as if they are nestled up against the tallest five-story pagoda in Japan. The sight is truly breathtaking and one of the most representative spring scenes in Kyoto.
During the spring special opening period, the Fuji-zakura and the five-story pagoda are illuminated, creating a fantastic atmosphere. The collaboration of the cherry blossoms reflected in the pond and the illuminated five-story pagoda is breathtaking.
In addition to Fuji-zakura, there are about 200 other cherry trees planted on the temple grounds, including Someiyoshino and Kawazu-zakura. Visitors can enjoy the beauty of various cherry blossoms as they stroll through the vast precincts of the temple.

Spring Special Open House
From late March to mid-April every year, the temple is open for nighttime viewing and illumination. During these periods, visitors can tour the auditorium and the Treasure House, which are normally inaccessible, for a fee.

- Approximately 10 minutes on foot from Toji Station on the Kintetsu Kyoto Line
