Features and Highlights
- Pretty red weeping cherry blossoms in full bloom
- Beautiful contrast between a garden with a circular garden and a dry landscape garden
- Collaboration of cherry blossoms and fresh greenery
- Special spring tour packages with meals are available
The highlight of the cherry blossoms at Tatezoin Temple is the 10 weeping cherry trees. Red weeping cherry trees are a type of weeping cherry tree with double petals. Usually in early April, the red weeping cherry trees are in full bloom and the temple grounds are filled with a festive atmosphere.
In addition to the weeping red cherry blossoms, there are many other attractions at Tatezoin. Both the Kaiyusui-style pond garden and the Karesansui (dry landscape) garden are atmospheric Japanese-style gardens. The Kare-sansui garden has a stone garden that represents yin and yang, while the Kaiyushiki garden has a gourd pond and waterfall.
The Tatezoin also houses a national treasure, the “Hyonenzu” (gourd and sweetfish painting). Hyoyuzu is a masterpiece of ink and wash painting, depicting a gourd and a sweetfish. When you visit Tatezoin, be sure to view the gourd and sweetfish paintings as well.
