The path is located on the left bank (east bank) of the Kamo River along the west side of the Kyoto Botanical Garden, and is about 800 meters long. 70 cherry trees are planted along the path, and the path is named “Nakaragi no michi” (path of the half-tree), which is one of the many famous cherry blossom viewing spots in Kyoto.
The cherry trees along the Hanki-no-Michi path bloom with deep pink flowers, and when they are in full bloom, the path resembles a tunnel of cherry blossoms. Walking through the tunnel of cherry blossoms, you can enjoy the soft spring sunlight and cherry blossom showers, and have a pleasant time viewing cherry blossoms.
The path of the half-tree is also a place of relaxation for Kyotoites along the Kamo River. Visitors can be seen sitting on the riverbank watching the river murmuring, children playing in the water, joggers along the river, and students practicing their musical instruments.
