What is Kurumaori Shrine?
Kurumaori Shrine is dedicated to Kiyohara Yoriyoshi, a Confucian scholar of the Heian period. Because of Yoriyoshi’s academic virtues, the shrine is known as a place to pray for academic achievement and success in school. The shrine is also called “Kurumaori Daimyojin” (meaning “Great Myojin of Kurumaori”) because of the broken ox cart, and is said to bring good luck in warding off calamities and improving one’s financial fortune.
