The “Flower Garden ” in the Plum Garden of Kitano Tenmangu Shrine is one of the highlights of Kyoto, where approximately 1,500 plum trees bloom with the arrival of spring. In the vast grounds, visitors are enchanted by the wide variety of plum trees named after Sugawara Michizane.
Visitors can enjoy the beauty of ume blossoms day and night in the “Flower Garden,” especially at night when they are illuminated to create a fantastic atmosphere.
Fantastic nighttime lighting
The “Hana-no-niwa” plum garden at Kitano Tenmangu Shrine is lit up at night to allow visitors to enjoy the beauty of the plum blossoms in a fantastic atmosphere. Held during specific nighttime periods, the light-up offers visitors a special view of ume blossoms floating in the Kyoto night.
The light illuminating the ume blossoms gives them a different and attractive appearance than during the daytime, attracting visitors to view the blossoms.
