Kawazu-zakura (Kawazu-zakura ) is an early-blooming cherry tree discovered in Kawazu-cho, Kamo-gun, Shizuoka Prefecture. It is believed to be a natural hybrid of the Kanhizakura and early-flowering Oshima cherry varieties that bloom mainly in Okinawa and other areas, and usually begins to bloom in late January.
