What is Jurin-ji Temple?
Jurin-ji Temple, founded in 850 (Kasho 3), is said to have originated when Dengyo Daishi (a Buddhist priest) enshrined a Jizo (a Jizo statue of prolonged life) he had created to pray for the safe delivery of Empress Someden by Emperor Buntoku. In the late Heian period (794-1185), it is said that Narihira Zaihara spent his last years at the temple and expressed his feelings for Takako Fujiwara in a salted ware.

Sanpo-Fushin-no-Niwa: Surrounded by a high corridor, a tea ceremony room, and a palace, Sanpo-Fushin-no-Niwa is a canopy of weeping cherry trees that bloom in spring. Visitors can enjoy different looks by viewing the garden from three different perspectives: standing, sitting, and lying down.
Naruhira C herry Blossoms: Naruhira Cherry Blossoms, weeping cherry trees over 200 years old, are in full bloom in the courtyard. Its beauty is breathtaking, and it is known as one of the most beautiful spots in the springtime.
Shiogama Site and Hokyointo: The ” Shiogama Site,” where Narihira Saibara burned salt to express his love for Takako Fujiwara, and Hokyointo, the grave of Narihira Saibara, are located next to each other. The Shiogama Site is said to be beneficial for the fulfillment of love, and the Hokyoin Pagoda is said to be beneficial for the improvement of one’s talent in poetry.
