Sengane Cherry Blossom

Sengan-zakura, the symbol of Oharano Shrine, is a weeping cherry tree over 70 years old. When in full bloom, a single branch is filled with countless white blossoms that look like a bonbori (a Japanese paper lantern), giving the cherry tree the appearance of having many eyes, hence the name “Sengan-zakura. It is known as the “phantom cherry tree” because it falls within three days of blooming.
